Happy Friday!

I am SO excited about the announcement I’m about to share with you guys! If you don’t know my husband and I personally, we are both “first responders” in our community and we have a huge passion to support those who are on the front lines to protect and serve the rest of us.

We were talking a couple weeks ago about ways we could support the men and women we both work with and others in our field. Then it hit us… we are dedicating the entire month of August to supporting all first responders. This includes:

If you are in one of these public service positions, first, let me just say how much we appreciate you and your desire to be a positive contribution to our society. Countless lives are saved because of YOU and your dedication.

We know there’s nothing we can do to equate your level of service and many times sacrifice, but we would like to give back in your honor. So, we decided to do so in the way we know how. Through investing in you and helping you become the strongest, healthiest, happiest version of yourself.

Ultimate Reset Diaries: His & Hers Journey through 21 Days of Cleansing- Weeks 2 & 3

Our reset in a crunch plan for week two was:

For Breakfast we picked:

  • Fresh fruit plate. Our choices for fruits: strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, cantaloupe, honeydew melon nectarines and peaches

For lunch and dinner we could alternate recipes this week: meaning we can make extra for dinner one night and eat if for lunch-SCORE!!

  • Hearty vegetable miso soup with microgreen green salad, toasted pumpkin seeds.
  • Quinoa-Lentil pilaf with half cup steamed broccoli (we swapped the broccoli out for mixed vegies)
  • Pinto beans and rice with steamed zucchini and green beans

Snack: ½ a green apple with almond butter

Day 8 (Tuesday) 2

I was super excited to try the Detox powder after having that power greens powder (which my husband likened to horse poop) all week last week. Too bad we are not rid of the power greens just yet!

 

Ya…my excitement was turned into gagging the first time I tried it. OMG I’d rather have the power greens three times a day than this stuff!! I have even tried it in warm water and it is equally gross. But Hubs likes it so I guess it’s just a personal preference.

I’d like to point out this caddy that comes with the ultimate reset kit. It is so handy to carry all the packets of powders and the optimize pills that we have to take throughout the day. I even take the mineralize with me so I can add it to the bottle of water everytime I get a new bottle- I think I go through about 5 bottles or 2 1 liter bottles each day!

Since breakfast was a plate full of fruit, I was actually hungry before lunch time came around. I made a note to drink even more water tomorrow so I could feel filled up.

Lunch was microgreen salad with pumpkin seeds and ¼ of an avocado and pinto beans and rice. Let me tell you something, this Indian girl was dancing with joy because I get to have cumin and coriander with the beans!! I miss Indian food and the spices and flavor!

And even better- dinner was Quinoa-Lentil Pilaf and it had turmeric in it!! Now we are talking. This was so good that our ten year old kidlet asked to take it to lunch the next day!

 

Hubby –  I was doing pretty good days 8 through 10. I was determined to continue with this process to see if anything improved for me. The food was getting a little old around day 10 & 11, but I noticed that my joint pain in my hands, shoulders, knees and especially feet was considerably less. On day 12 I stopped taking pain meds. I also notice my over all energy level was up. Typically around early evening I could easily fall asleep in a chair if I sat still for more than 5 minutes. I have had blood test and sleep studies to try and find the cause for my lack of energy. I really think that I am gluten sensitive. Meaning I have some of the standard side effects of having a mild reaction to gluten. By day fourteen, I was sure that gluten has affected me for years. I can remember about 12 years ago going to arthritis specialists because I could barely make a fist or hold tightly on to my fishing rod (that is a huge problem for me). Now with two weeks of being on the Ultimate Reset and going gluten free, I know that I will stay away from it from now on.

Day 9 and Day 10

6These two days are a blur since I was in a training both days an hour away from home. I did notice that I got hungry and thirsty more often. I was not drinking enough water and people at the5 training would give me strange looks as I swirled my detox powder and power greens in Styrofoam cups to mix and down it as fast as I possibly could! So my meals were on the go and prepped the night before. My energy was crazy! I could work all day, come home and do housework and get assignments done (remember I’m in Grad School?!), wake up and do it all over again!

AND this is the last week of duck hunting so hubby took the whole week off!! I’m so excited, not because he’s off but it’s the last week for me as a water fowlers widow 🙂 . Haha…

This was Breakfast on the go for him- again proving you can do this no matter where you are or what you are doing!

 

I also wanted to show y’all a picture of my miso soup! Seriously I’m in love with this thing. Hubby is not a big fan but this was dinner on Day 9!

Day 11- Friday

On usual weeks, by Friday I am done. My brain is foggy, I don’t feel like going to work and just want to call in sick! Not this Friday. I woke up with an abundance of energy, worked like crazy all day, came home, took the kidlet shopping and dropped her off to a sleepover and then decided to make something other than what we had in our plans for this week. Hubby had made a couple of remarks as this week went by that he was tired of eating the same things so I opened the ultimate reset book and tried to see if I can mix and match or make something else for him! There’s a recipe for Kabocha Sqaush with garlic Tahini filling and steamed broccoli or your favorite vegetable. I surveyed the kitchen and saw a spaghetti squash laying on the counter- close enough!

Plus, we both are not big fans of broccoli! There was no Tahini sauce at home, but I had a jar full of white sesame seeds!  So… I was resourceful! I roasted them and then went all frontier woman and grinded them on the stone grinder (all Indian homes have one of those for grinding spices and I’d rather use that than the electric one because it’s easier to clean 🙂 ). I’m telling you the energy high is great! I feel like I used to when I was in my 20’s!

I filled the spaghetti squash with the tahini sauce, garlic and miso paste like the recipe asks and placed tomatoes in the middle and baked for 30 minutes! The end result was so delish- definitely a recipe we are keeping. As hubby was scarfing this down he comments, “This would be a great side dish with chicken.” LOL we really do miss chicken since it is one of the few meats we eat.

Day 12 and 13 (Weekend)

Before we started the Ultimate Reset, I used to wake up about 6-7 times a night to go pee. Almost two weeks into this I have noticed a significant change, I only wake up once a night or some nights not at all!! This makes a big difference to me since I have insomnia and waking 6-7 times a night was really giving me very little sleep. In the past, I had all sorts of tests done but no one could ever find anything physically wrong with me. What I think I figured out is that I didn’t drink enough water throughout the day, feeling dehydrated by 4 -5 pm and was chugging water like crazy in the afternoon and therefore peeing all night. Simple thing right- but ultimate reset made me realize how to change this habit and routine.

Weekends are usually hard since I always have visitors over and I’m always cooking massive amounts of Indian food. This weekend my Dad was going to be here so it was extra hard. I made dhal (Indian lentil soup- key ingredients, turmeric, cumin, spinach, carrots and of course lentils!) and rice (brown for us) and some salmon (cooked Indian way), but hubby and I stuck to dhal and brown rice- so good.

Day 14

Still lots of energy and I feel like we are in a routine now. Food wise we didn’t really do anything new. All prepped to start Week 3 tomorrow!!

WEEK 3

Our reset in a crunch plan for week 3 was:

Breakfast:

  • Fresh fruit plate

Lunch and Dinner we alternated between:

  • Bakes sweet potato with garlic veggies
  • Curried cauliflower (Yay- this is a Indian dish which I totally know how to cook!!)

Snack : ½ a green apple with almond butter (yeah we are creatures of habit)

I’m so glad I don’t have to drink that Detox powder. This week we had to add another set of capsules called Optimize!! No worries, we got this.

 

Day 15-21

Murphy strikes again. This week I had to be out of the office for three days due to a big contact investigation ( I work in infectious diseases). Being out in the field, I missed meals and water and felt tired and dehydrated. I still took all the supplements like I needed to but with so little intake of calories I wasn’t keeping up.

My breaking point came at Day 19 when I had to travel two hours away from home for a training that I had completely forgotten about! I wouldn’t even have made it if not for my outlook calendar. Since I was expecting to come home for lunch, and had to leave last minute, day 19 was the first day I broke away from the ultimate reset and ate regular food- which consisted of salad and a sandwich and potato salad (the yogurt in the pic is not mine).

I felt like such a failure and texted my hubby about this.

He made me realize that through this process, we DID learn new things about our bodies! My husband learned that his body did not tolerate gluten. After having years of pain in his joints, countless sleep studies, and x-rays confirming Arthritis, he is now 90 % pain free (he does need to have surgery on his knees and shoulders due to old football injuries)! I learned that I need to drink water throughout the day in order to not wake up 6-7 times to run to the bathroom at night (Previously, I was drinking the bulk of my water in the evenings and dehydrating myself all day)! Also something I had been to multiple doctor’s about and had tests done on…who would have thought it could be so simple?! We both also learned new recipes that we are keeping and to incorporate more vegetables into our diet.

 

HUBBY – (Days 15-21) I am still feeling a million times better with the joint pain. I’ve taken maybe a couple extra strength Tylenol over the 3 weeks of the Ultimate Reset. Before this program I was using daily low level pain meds throughout the day, pain cream, and Extra-Strength Tylenol. I am getting tired of the food though. By the third week my appetite was growing. Eating almost a vegan diet with limiting portions was starting to be too much. I am thrilled though that I met my goal of discovering the reason behind my years of consistent pain! I started easing back towards normal food prepared and cooked like the foods in the reset. I had some chicken around day 18 and some chicken salad on day 19. I didn’t work out the numbers but I would be willing to bet the max calories for a day would barely get to 1000. That is too low for me. I started at a hair less than 232lbs and ended up 215.2 pounds on day 18. That is almost 17 lbs in 18 days. It was not my goal to lose weight. I really feel good between 222 and 225 and I felt considerably weaker with no stamina. I increased my calories and slowly increased my chicken, nuts and peanut butter.

I would strongly encourage friends and family to try the 21-day Ultimate Reset. I would advise to have specific goals in mind and track your progress. Don’t feel like you failed because you slightly veered off course, understand that to get the best results you should stay on track though. Give yourself a fair chance to be successful and work towards your goal.

 

A month after reset: We are still keeping at eating healthy, Chris has separate bread, bagels, and tortillas in the refrigerator that are all gluten-free. We are still keeping our energy levels up! Good thing because we have added another responsibility to our list of being full-time employees, parents, and part-time students…WITH 7 PUPPIES!!!

WOW! How amazing is that, right?! It  blows me away how much of a MASSIVE difference this couple saw in their 21 day journey! What I feel now, coming to the end of week 3 of this incredible program, is amazing. I feel motivated, confident, strong. Despite my semi-sleepless nights with a 3 month old, waking up every morning at 0430, working 40 hours/week at my regular job, and keeping up a health & fitness business…. surprisingly, I feel pretty awesome! My energy levels are sustained throughout the day, I feel happywith where I’m at and where I’m going.

I’m LOVING LIVING. I want that for you too!

Hey guys!

Sorry it’s been a while since my last post. Life’s been a little busy, but it’s now settling down a bit and you’ll be hearing alot more from me from here on.

Today I wanted to do a quick post on the benefits of working out with your main squeeze. Let’s face it, in this day and age, by the age of 30, many of us have experienced broken relationships at one level or another. I am one of those. It’s become a learning process for me and I am SO thankful to have learned all that I have through the rough days. There are various reasons why relationships fail today: lack of character, lack of fidelity, no work ethic, low self esteem, selfishness, the list goes on….but that’s not what I want to talk about today. Today I want to touch on one of the awesome ways we can keep our relationships strong. Ready…go!

7 Benefits of working out with your special someone:

1. Keep each other accountable

  • If you’ve tried exercising at any point in your life, you know it really does help to have someone to keep you accountableCouples that workout together, stay together! to workout and give your all in the gym. Why not make that motivator be “your person”? You’re responsible for encouraging each other, motivating each other, pushing each other to go further. You create an encouraging, motivating, fun, and exciting relationship together both in and out of the gym.

2. HORMONES

  • OBVIOUSLY hormones can change your life. It can either be for better or for worse. When we workout, we release feel good endorphins which gives us that post workout glow. We increase testosterone (not in a scary way ladies…we have testosterone too which we need for hormonal balance) which increases our drive for life in general-ALWAYS a plus! So, obviously, when you both are happier with increased life drive, life is going to be much better together!

3. Train with your life teammate

  • When you’re in a relationship, you’re a team. It’s you and your teammate in life. You conquer life struggles together, you celebrate together, you are a source of strength for your person and they are a source of strength for you. When you practice this “teammate-ness” in the gym, it comes much more easily in real life situations. This may sound silly, but it really makes a difference! Professional athletes train together every day. The idea is to learn to know where your teammate is and build trust and confidence that your teammate will always be there when needed. This creates a seamless and effective team when it comes gametime.

4. Increased energy

  • Living an exhausted, drained of energy life is awesome, right?? WRONG! Exercise is KEY to keep your mind and body full of energy. Every day every single human being gets older. Unfortunately, as we age, most people slow down and stop moving as much. As the body gets used to this it starts to slow down and lose energy even faster. We can dramatically slow down the aging process by simply continuing to move. Obviously rest is essential as well, but if you can maintain a regular exercise routine, your energy levels are going to be much higher than those who never get their workout on. It’s commonsense that in a relationship, you’re going to have so much more fun together if you both have energy as opposed to you both being exhausted all the time. DUH!

5. Me time becomes “us” time

  • A foundational part of building a relationship is having fun and spending time together. If you have kiddos, work, and other things that get in the way, your gym time can become your recreational companionship time. It can be a time to have fun, get sweaty, challenge yourself, and use your best friend to push you through when your muscles want to quit.

6. Increased self confidence

  • LADIES! This applies mostly to you, even though it’s essential for both parties in the relationship. Listen for a sec, IF YOU ARE CONSTANTLY BEATING YOURSELF UP AND THINK YOU ARE UNLOVABLE, TOO FAT, TOO SHORT, TOO UGLY, TO WHATEVER STUPID RUNNING THROUGH YOUR HEAD….YOU’RE GOING TO DRAIN YOUR PARTNER AND PUT STRAIN ON YOUR RELATIONSHIP. In a healthy relationship, you want to be confident (not cocky) in who you are as an individual apart from the other person. When BOTH people are happy with themselves, they come together and become a superpower team. Neither one is draining the other person, you’re not dependent on them for your happiness, you don’t become needy, you don’t “need” them to complete you… YOU are happy being YOU, but you realize with the other person, you’re a better version of yourself. They make you happy, you make them happy. You each are only giving to the other person instead of draining them. Make sense?? When you workout together, you are building your confidence. You feel more fit, healthy, sexy, the list goes on..who doesn’t want that in their relationship?

7. Reduce stress

  • There is WAY too much stress in our day and age. It’s everywhere we turn and is the culprit behind many health issues and relationship strain. Exercise is a key way to reduce stress, so why not do that together?

Not in a relationship?? AWESOME! Keep getting your fitness on, work on improving yourself, being encouraged in fitness by your friends, find a workout partner, and when that time comes that you meet your iron pumping, protein drinking, snuggle buddy, you’ll be the best version of yourself for them. That’s what it’s all about. Encouraging eachother to live to your fullest potential.

Busy Mom went from Victim to Victor

Tears well up in my eyes just in calling to memory the progress I have made since choosing to go through the Empowered Woman program…LIFE CHANGING!!!!

I am a 37 year old wife and mother of two (ages 7 & 4).  I work 40+ hours a week as a project manager for an engineering company, pay the family bills, make most of the meals, get the kids off to school/daycare, do most of the household chores, etc. etc.

SDocument_C13080710021In a nutshell, from a very young age in an effort to be the perfect little Christian girl, I put everyone first, held them on a pedestal  and denied myself of any feelings (besides guilt, I felt guilty about everything). The need to overdo everything and be everything to everyone came from wanting to gain acceptance of others and God and if I was lucky or perfect enough, maybe even their love.  This led to a very unhealthy relationship with food.  I reached for food to numb me, which was comforting but only for a while. As one could imagine, the scale shot up and then began the self hatred and subsequent rounds of people pleasing…why would anyone like me for me; the fat worthless slob that I was?

In 2006 I had gastric bypass surgery and lost 110 pounds.  Sure, this fixed my weight but did not address the mental or spiritual aspects behind my weight struggles. I desperately tried to fill the emptiness that I still had by doing more and more “stuff” because that was all I knew to do, but it landed me in & out of the hospital with secondary anxiety and reactive hypoglycemia because of my poor food choices.

I seriously thought I was going to die.

I was maxed out and my body was finally manifesting physical signs in a desperate attempt to get me to slow down. I began taking steps to a more balanced diet to correct the hypoglycemic portion of the problem and then early in 2013 I attended a couple of seminars held by Jessica.  She talked about her Empowered Woman program and the body, mind, and soul connection.  I knew in the core of my being that I needed to be a part of her next group.

 

 

So, here I am, 14 weeks into the program; I have lost 12 pounds, I have not had any anxiety attacks, I feel as though I can breathe IMG_7625but most importantly I have finally learned to not only be ok with myself, but to actually love ME!!! Exactly how I am in this time. My relationships are being restored, and most importantly my relationship with my Heavenly Father. As I look back over my life I see His hand of mercy. Given the magnitude of my unhealthiness I could have landed just about anywhere but He led my choices and prepared me for this time; for complete healing. For the first time in years I am not searching for something to fill that deep void; I feel connected and at peace because I am acknowledging my feelings and needs. I am taking responsibility for where I am, not just taking the back seat and wondering how the heck I got here and blaming others on the way. I am putting into place healthy boundaries and trusting God.

Sure this could have happened regardless my choice to go through Jessica’s program but I truly believe that her program expedited the process and got me to think about things that could have otherwise taken years to arrive at. Each week she releases a section for the body, mind, and soul; the materials were easy to read and worked into my busy life. You will get out of it what you put into it, trust me!! What I love…Jessica is genuinely accessible and makes sure you get it, on a weekly basis with her group calls and personal check-ins!  She will laugh, cry, pray and work hard with you. I have never felt judged for what I didn’t know.  Her materials provide a solid foundation for taking the necessary steps towards a healthier you, in every aspect of your life…if you choose to do so.

For me, this choice changed my “victim mentality” into “victor mentality” and my life will never be the same.

Spring Cleaning: Body Edition


People like “stuff”. We tend to hold onto more of it year after year. We save and stock up on many useless items that we don’t even know what to do with. Maybe we keep things because they hold precious memories of days gone by, or they remind us of our parents, grandparents, past loves or childhood. To part with these precious possessions may seem painful or even out of the question to some. There is a saying that goes, “You have to get rid of the old to make way for the new.” If you are feeling stuck or stagnant in your life, try some spring-cleaning. Throw out some of that old “stuff”, say goodbye to your nuances of the past and welcome the new energy of your happy, healthy future. Try these four ideas:

1. For good mental and physical health, we actually have two “houses” that need to be spring-cleaned: our physical homes and our physical bodies. Just as we accumulate “stuff” in the form of outgrown clothes, magazines, rusty bicycles, tools and random keepsakes, so do our bodies accumulate old food residues and toxins that need to be cleaned out.

2. To spring clean your body, give it a break from rich and complicated foods by either cleansing or fasting for a short period of time. Cleansing means paring down your food to just simple fruits and vegetables, lots of water and perhaps gluten-free whole grains. Fasting means limiting most foods and drinking lots of water, fresh vegetable and fruit juices, teas and soups. Without much energy going toward digestion, more energy is available to the rest of your body and mind. Cleansing and fasting can sharpen your concentration, help you gain insight and promote spiritual awareness. It can also bring improved immune function and better digestion.

3. While you’re cleaning out your body and home, don’t forget to spring-clean your heart. Throw away negative thoughts and habits you’ve been harboring that no longer serve you. A clean, open heart will allow you to receive all the good that awaits you each and every day. If your heart and mind are cluttered, there is no room for life’s gifts and surprises to enter.

Food Focus: Greens


Leafy greens are some of the easiest and most beneficial vegetables to incorporate into your daily routine. Densely packed with energy and nutrients, they grow upward to the sky, absorbing the sun’s light while producing oxygen. Members of this royal green family include kale, collard greens, Swiss chard, mustard greens, arugula, dandelion greens, broccoli rabe, watercress, beet greens, bok choy, napa cabbage, green cabbage, spinach and broccoli.

How do greens benefit our bodies? They are very high in calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, phosphorous and zinc, and are a powerhouse for vitamins A, C, E and K. They are crammed full of fiber, folic acid, chlorophyll and many other micronutrients and phytochemicals. Their color is associated with spring, which is a time to renew and refresh vital energy. In traditional Chinese medicine, the color green is related to the liver, emotional stability, and creativity. Greens aid in purifying the blood, strengthening the immune system, improving liver, gall bladder, and kidney function, fighting depression, clearing congestion, improving circulation and keeping your skin clear and blemish free.
Leafy greens are the vegetables most missing from the American diet, and many of us never learned how to prepare them. Start with the very simple recipe below. Then each time you go to the market, pick up a new green to try. Soon you’ll find your favorite greens and wonder how you ever lived without them.


Shiitake and Kale

Prep Time: 2 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients:
1/2 pound shiitake mushrooms
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1-2 cloves crushed garlic
1 bunch kale, chopped
pinch of salt

Directions:
1. Warm oil in pan on medium heat with minced garlic until aromas of garlic are released, about 2-3 minutes.
2. Add chopped shiitake mushrooms, stir-fry for 5 minutes.
Add chopped kale, stir-fry for a couple of minutes.
Add a splash of water and pinch of salt to pan, cover and let steam for 4 minutes.

Kale, Lemon, apple Green Smoothie
2 leaves kale
1 apple
1 lemon peel removed
1-2 cups water or cold calli tea
Stevia to sweeten
Ice (optional)

Blend all ingredients and enjoy!

SWEATY SATURDAY- Do What You LOVE!

YAY! It’s the weekend! I hope you’re having a relaxing & restorative weekend with your friends & family! Today’s post was inspired by my softball practice today, first time I lace up my cleats in a loooong time! As you know, today is “Sweaty Saturday”, and I want to talk to you about doing what you love to get sweaty!

SO many people DREAD exercise. Are you one of those people? If so, you are definitely not alone. I was reflecting on why that is today…why do so many people truly hate exercise? Why is it such a burden? Why do people dread going to the gym or going for a run, yet push themselves to do it because they know they should? Think about that… If this is you, why do you dread exercise so much? Now, write that answer down….

Ok, now let’s talk about what you DO love! Everyone loves some sort of activity, and if you don’t, email me so we can figure out what’s going on :). So, for me, all of my life I played softball. I started with t-ball at around 3 years old and never looked back. I went on to play baseball with the boys until I was 8 and then switched over to softball. I don’t think there was any other activity in my life that I was so passionate about and invested so much in. At 10 years old, I was playing on a traveling softball team an hour away, where we would drive for practices and all around California for games. I was hooked at a very young age! In fact, it was on the way home from one of my softball practices on my 11th birthday that I was in a life-altering motorcycle accident that claimed my father’s life and truly changed my life forever. I almost lost my life, my leg, and so much more. If you haven’t heard my story, you can read more in the “About Me” section.

To me, there was no question as to if I would play softball again, I just knew I would and was determined to do just that. A little less than 1 year after my accident, I was wheeled out to the pitchers mound (I was a pitcher) with my casted leg and was honored to throw the first pitch to start off the softball season at a city-wide tournament. I couldn’t wait to walk out to that mound again.

Little by little I rehabilitated back to walking and eventually running and pitching again. I look back and realize that it really was quite an achievement! At the time though, it wasn’t a big deal to me. I was just doing what I was passionate about and that motivated me more than anything! I went on to play on multiple travel teams, was the starting Varsity pitcher multiple years in high school, played on a Junior Olympic softball team that my family and I drove 2.5 hours to for practice weekly and flew all over the country for tournaments, and eventually hit the pinnacle of my softball career when after shoulder surgery, was able to play with one of the top college softball teams in the NAIA, PLNU. The joy that softball brought me was unquestionable. I didn’t realize how big of a place it had in my heart until the day came that I had to hang up my cleats & glove.

Combining an extremely demanding nursing program, and an extremely demanding softball career, with a little pinch of a perfectionist mentality, my body started breaking down and on came the hormonal mess, heart palpitations, and digestive issues. It was time to move on to the next chapter of my life, and that hit me harder than I thought it would. I remember going for a run one night and I found myself in a puddle of my own tears sitting in the dug out of our college softball field. In that moment, I realized so much of my love for softball was connected to my dad. The last day I had with him was on a softball field, he coached me all growing up, and was there at every game alongside my amazing mother. Now was time to let it go and move on. And that I did, and found new joys, desires, goals, and aspirations.

I shared all this with you to show you one of my life long passions, softball. Each of you have a passion. Maybe it’s a sport, maybe it’s loving others, maybe it’s being in nature, playing with your kids, cleaning the environment, etc. Today, I was reminded of what I love and how I don’t have to think twice about running, sprinting, diving, and squats when I’m playing softball, because I LOVE IT! Today I dove and caught a fly ball twice and it felt SO GOOD even though I was covered in wet grass and may have moved a couple ribs out of place. 🙂

So, my friend, what is your passion in life? Now write that down. Does it fit with the reason you wrote down earlier about why you dread exercise? How can you turn that passion into an active- get sweaty sesh? Can you get some friends together and go play basketball on the street? Or maybe a group of girls wants to do a 5k together and you can all train and talk together. Or go run along the beach and pick up trash as you go, doing a full squat every time you bend down to pick something up. Maybe it’s playing and running around with your kiddos. Kid’s are GREAT to exercise with. Have them sit on your back as you do pushups, lay straight and depending how big they are bench press or bicep curl them, play jump rope or on a trampoline. Kids are ALWAYS active!

My point in all of this is that life is too short to dread exercise. If you truly hate running with a passion, then don’t run! If you hate being indoors at the gym, then go exercise outside! If you hate working out for hours at a time, then do something fun and intense like Crossfit! If you want something more calm, do yoga, pilates, or Qi-Gong! You have no excuse today. All I’m asking you to do is have FUN getting sweaty. Make it something you crave and can’t wait to do again! 😉 Use your imagination!

Have fun with today’s challenge and go get sweaty doing what you love!
