I’m the black sheep- Going against the grain

If you couldn’t tell…I absolutely, 100% LOVE what I do as a health coach. Truly, I know I was put on the planet to help other people feel their best. While I may KNOW that now, I haven’t always felt like it was a calling worthy of me pursuing. As you know, we live in a pretty negative society. The messages we constantly here are ones like…

  • You’re never good enough…
  • You’re never pretty, skinny, happy, energetic, productive enough…
  • You have to suffer to get anything good to happen…
  • You have to manipulate in order to get what you want…
  • You’re ridiculous & radical if you go against the grain and do things different than everyone else…
  • You’ll fail.

Does ANYONE out there feel this way? Can I get an amen?!?! 🙂

It’s so sad that this is the environment we live in. THIS is why so many never reach their fullest potential. THIS is why a staggering 80% of Americans don’t feel fulfilled in their jobs and wish they could do something else. Imagine with me for a minute, a world in which EVERYONE did what they were passionate about. Where EVERYONE operated in their strengths…we’d have every area covered because each of us was created with individual passions, traits, strengths, and characteristics. If you don’t like people for instance, you probably shouldn’t work in customer service. If you hate the smell of paint, you probably shouldn’t be a painter. If you pass out at the site of blood, you probably shouldn’t be an EMT. Makes sense, right? But somehow we were told we have to do what everyone else does, the way everyone else does it, in order to be successful. So…we settle. Well…I won’t. I’m breaking through the societal norm and I want to encourage you to do the same. For those who have a similar calling on their hearts, I want to take you with me.

How many of you have started to believe the lies you’ve been told about your potential? It’s super challenging sometimes to break through those voices. These are some of the things I’ve been told that I REFUSE to accept…

You can’t truly have your body back after you have a baby. Everything gets stretched out and you’ll never be the same.

You can’t REALLY make a substantial income from home. That’s something that exists in fantasy land.

It’s not possible to do what you truly love AND get paid good money for it.

You’re a grown up now…you can’t expect to find a job where you get more than 2 weeks of vacation each year. You should be happy with what they give you.

As you get older, you’ll see…you can’t be that healthy for long.

Everybody is going to get a disease at some point in their life these days.

You’re dreaming if you think you can actually be super successful working on your own schedule, helping other people, and make 6-7 figures/year. That’s not reality…what a waste of time.

What would happen if I accepted these lies as truth? I’d still be packing around baby weight (Which I’ve not only lost all of, but 7 pounds more…), I’d be miserable in my current job without any hope of the future, my family wouldn’t have been blessed with the amazing additional income & free superfoods these past 6 months, my soul wouldn’t be ON FIRE to help others, AND most importantly…the large group of people I’ve been able to encourage and help in their journey to health & wellness…they’d still be sick, overweight, hopeless, yoyo dieting, with their health problems and NO HOPE for the future. Now, that just isn’t ok with me…so what I will say to all of the haters out there…

????WATCH ME??✌?

I will and I am.
Joining the Beachbody team has truly changed my life in the past 6 months. I am stronger inside and out than I have EVER been. Talk about a fast transformation! I have purpose and passion in my heart. I find so much fulfillment in the messages I get from my team DAILY telling me about another pound lost, push up goal accomplished, cookie not eaten, emotional eating pattern destroyed, bad habit broken, life changed. My heart is full. I’m on a mission. A mission to change my world and I’m doing it. ?

What to do when the weight of the world is on your shoulders…

Last week was one of those weeks for me…

For the sake of transparency, and being authentic, I wanted to share with you all where my heart was last week and why it was a powerful growing experience for me.

Have you ever felt burnt out, never good enough, defeated, like the weight of the world was on your shoulders and you didn’t know how to turn things around? That was me last week. It’s funny because as a health & fitness coach, I lead other people to process through their emotions, negative patterns, self-doubt, and baggage that they hang onto. So, when it comes to feeling those things myself, I feel extra broken. I’m “supposed” to be better than this…to know the answers…to…never…struggle? Wait, that’s not realistic…but that was the expectation I subconsciously had on myself.

Ok, Jessica, pull it together, you need to be able to work full time in a job that emotionally drains you daily, to run a side full-time business that is actually you living out your passion, but is just starting out so takes extra time and effort to get off the ground, but also be fully present when you’re home to soak in your son who is growing way to fast (you don’t want to miss a second of this, do you??), make sure the house is clean, meals are prepped, groceries are fully stocked with healthy options like a good “wife” (none of these crazy expectations come from my husband, might I add..all self inflicted here), wake up at 0400 every morning to complete your workout without struggling to get up in the morning, also for goodness sakes, go get your nails & hair done and a spray tan every now and then, you need to remember to be a girl in all of this, oh and figure out what kind of projects need to be started on the house, the front and back yard are looking pretty crappy, so you guys should start working on that so the neighbors don’t think your white trashy…ALSO your car is making weird noises, I know you decided to not purchase another vehicle right now, but you might have to, so figure out if you want to spend $55k on a new truck or $40 on an old one with almost 100k miles on it…I don’t know why that’s so hard for you to comprehend, everyone else is doing it…why are you so weird? Ok, now go do some social media posting, you’re going to miss the prime time that everyone is on their FB, IG, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, WordPress, snapchat, and email! Hurry, hurry, hurry….baby has a wet diaper and is hungry again, also you should probably make some dinner it’s 9pm.

Hahahaha…THIS IS MY BRAIN. No wonder I had a mini melt down this weekend! Can anyone relate to this madness? I know many of you out there can. I just finished listening to an incredible audio book this past week as I was driving to and from work, and it’s really helped me process through my intangible expectations I put on myself. I highly recommend listening to it, It’s called The Power of Vulnerability by Brene Brown. This book also helped me realize the importance of authenticity, especially in a leadership role. We are all in a struggle of some sort. Social media, unfortunately is a huge problem when it comes to us feeling insufficient. We see everyone else’s smiles, victories, six-packs, and seemingly “perfect” lives, but no one shares their struggles, hardships, doubts, etc.

I 100% believe I was put on this earth to help others. I LOVE to inspire, encourage, educate, motivate, and love on others to help them feel and see and realize how awesome they are and the greatness they can achieve. I’ve come to realize the most helpful thing I can do is to be real myself with my own struggles and the solutions I find or attempt to find for those struggles. Hence, this blogpost.

I have come to realize that I can’t continue at the mental pace I am going. In Brene’s studies, she found that the most successful, whole hearted people are those who rest & play the most. Yes, they work hard, but they MAKE TIME for rest and play…what a rare thing in our society, right? When we become adults we enter into this competition for who can be the most successful at late nights, early mornings, being sleep deprived, and beat ourselves up the most just to climb the ladder faster than everyone else. How many of you wish we still incorporated nap time and recess into our work days?? Am I right?! 🙂 Yesterday, when I was overwhelmed with every expectation I put on my shoulders…while I didn’t feel like doing it at first, I knew I had to do one of my 22 Minute Hard Corps workouts, and I am SO glad I did! Exercise is one of the most effective methods of stress management. It teaches your body during stressful times, for survival, that it’s crucial to burn fat and lean out (Stress eating creates the opposite subconscious response. Your body will learn to hold onto extra fat cells as a protective mechanism when eating sweets or junk food when stressed). This for me is a type of play. It makes me feel stronger, accomplished, and while I can’t control a lot of what happens in the world, I can control this area of my life and make good choices to eat healthy & exercise. Happy endorphins are ALWAYS a good thing, am I right? 🙂 It also helps to have a super cute 8 month old on the exercise mat clapping as I do my jump squats…haha.

Take home points…

  • Take time to rest & find what it is that restores your soul and is fun for you- schedule that in your calendar and make rest & play happen.
  • When you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders…it is ALWAYS a good time to exercise.
  • Be GRACIOUS to yourself, be KIND to yourself, LOVE yourself. We forget how awesome we are.
  • Enjoy the moment. Be present with your current struggle, current joy, current love. We get so wrapped up in worrying about the future or past that we miss the moment.
  • Be authentic. Be YOU.

I hope this was an encouragement for you in whatever stage of life you may be in now. Life can be brutal, but it can also be beautiful. Let us not forget to always look for the beauty. Have an amazing day!

I can’t hold it in anymore….I am SO frustrated and irritated at misinformation and people being preyed on by corrupted companies, doctors, pharmaceutical industries who develop a falsity to happiness by telling people they can lose weight fast in any other way than by eating healthy, exercising, stress management, and taking care of yourself.

THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!

The Mom Squad- Preparing for the battle

To be honest, yesterday, I was in the midst of writing one of my regular posts about 2 of Beachbody’s July promotions for challenge packs, and I was planning on finishing that blog post today and sending it out like an ordinary day.

But, I just can’t. Today isn’t an ordinary day.

Today, we morn with the families who lost their loved ones in the shootings in Dallas and across America as several other officers were shot at today. Today, we realize that the wounds of this country go deep and from those wounds, many are irrationally acting out in hatred with senseless acts of violence. We have flip flopped…what was historically considered “wrong” is now looked at as acceptable, and what was historically considered “right” is now prosecuted against and looked at as radicalism. If you are a melatonin deprived Christian conservative, who stands for morals and faith, you are all of a sudden looked at as a radicalist by so many! I can’t tell you how many social media posts have grouped all the white people and cops into racist people. What nonsense! I love all the colors! Heck, I’m pretty sure I AM all the colors in a melting pot. Let’s stop bringing division and start strengthening ourselves, our families, our circles, our communities, and our country. Today, as my mind was flooded with mixed emotions of anger, sadness, frustration, and fear for my family full of peace officers, I realized something.

Every day is a battlefield.

LIFE is a battlefield, and it shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Let me tell you something, if you haven’t already realized it, in the months to come, things are most likely going to get worse, not better. With our pending election and the ever so popular 2 candidates we have, no matter which one is elected, we most likely will be immersed into chaos.

Either way, I want to be physically, mentally, and spiritually as ready as I can be. Training season has commenced in a very real way. Some of you may think I’m crazy, and that is fine, but I know for some of you women out there, I am speaking your language. You want to feel strong, capable, full of faith instead of fear, resourceful, knowledgeable, and you want to know how to protect yourself and your family from the evil that lurks around every corner. This is why I have decided to launch a women’s group, ” The Mom Squad”.

In this group, I will utilize the Beachbody programs to help encourage women to get physically stronger and more agile than they’ve ever been, we will talk nutrition & meal planning to optimize our nutrition for ourselves & our families, we will increase our superfood consumption, we will pray for each other and encourage each other in our faith, we will share resources related to our current daily life struggles, we’ll learn more about the immune system, digestive system, hormonal balance, we’ll learn to BUILD EACH OTHER UP AND NOT TEAR OURSELVES DOWN, we’ll learn the importance of inner confidence, and we might even talk about tactical readiness for women!

This is going to be a support group, and it’s going to be awesome. We’re going to get stronger in every way and motivate each other through our training. The accountability is going to be awesome!
