I NEED YOU!!! THE WORLD NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!

There is a massive need in the United States right now for careers in healthcare from home. That’s exactly what I do… in an unconventional way, what I do, helps keep people out of the hospitals from preventable illnesses. I help people boost their immune systems, maintain a healthy weight, eat healthier, exercise, drink more water, manage stress from getting out of control… that’s what a COACH DOES.

One of my favorite parts of my job is to meet other like-minded people who have the same passions and work-ethic as me, who want to make a difference in this world and equally want to have the freedom to work for themselves on their own schedule. TOGETHER we can make a big impact!

If you’re open to considering joining our team as a coach, and you’re willing to put in the action steps to actually make a difference, I would love to have you in my October coach mentorship group. Minimal TIME is required as I have minimal myself- HOWEVER< I’ve set up a fantastic on-the-go communication method for this group and I have simple checklists that you can learn and complete as you have time.

With the plethora of tools we have to serve the world in fitness, nutrition, supplementation, mindset  + wellness- the business growth and impact opportunities here are ENDLESS!

EMAIL ME at TheHealthPatriot@gmail.com if you’d like to be considered for the business coach mentorship.

IF you have questions about ANY of the above, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I know life is nuts right now, I’m there with you, but there’s no reason we can’t learn to pivot and THRIVE through the chaos!

Cheering you on!

Weight Loss Program Outlined for Exhausted Mama’s

Screen Shot 2021-04-20 at 9.43.27 AM

Oh heeey there!

If you saw the title of this post and lit up with excitement of the potential of what this could mean for YOU… I’m excited you’re here.

I just wrapped up a free 7-part video mini series on top weight loss wreckers in my free community on Facebook (Click HERE if you want to join us!) and I’ve been chatting with a lot of women who are struggling with exhaustion, overwhelm, lack of motivation and the desire to lose weight, especially in their belly. They WANT to see results and feel better but overwhelming life circumstances make starting an intense program to get the weight off feel IMPOSSIBLE.

Can you relate?

Ok, then THIS IS FOR YOU!

While some of you may follow my life closely in my IG stories… even so, I can promise you, you don’t see the nitty gritty struggles and chaos of my life either. You don’t see the whole running 2 businesses with 3 babies and 2 dogs, the building a house stresses, the helping both sets of parents with remodels, the living with my parents transition until our house is built, the trying to get help with kids, the applying to private kindergartens that are full, the always dirty house, the husband working 10-12 hour days sometimes 6-7 days a week… haha. So if you’re compaaaariiiing (comparison is the thief of joy let me remind you… ) and think it’s “easier” for me or for other people you’re watching… put out your hand.. do it right now, put your hand out. *SLAP* Stop doing that.

Haha.. but really stop it. If YOU want to feel different, to see results, ask yourself- WILL THE AREAS OF YOUR LIFE YOU VALUE MOST BENEFIT IF YOU’RE FEELING MORE VIBRANT, CONFIDENT, HAPPY & HEALTHY?? If SO- how important are those people and those areas to you? If YOU being healthier is critical to your life being better THEN STOP PUTTING YOUR HEALTH ON THE BACK BURNER. Let’s get up and do something about it together! 🙂

That’s where I come in- I am putting together a Transformation program for BUSY, exhausted overwhelmed women who really want to see results but don’t know how to get them. I will set you up with your Transformation 5 for a proven comprehensive approach that will fit into ANY lifestyle, including busy mama’s like myself.

Interested in becoming a Coach

SO- what would I recommend for someone like ME who wants to tighten up the belly jiggle, tone my arms, keep my energy boosted, stress managed, anxiety away, confidence up and keep myself vibrantly healthy for my family?

I’m going to outline it for you right here, with my personal Transformation5:

FITNESS: I just started this brand new 30 day home fitness program called Let’s Get Up that combines cardio, dance (this is like a comedy show because I’m not a dancer but it’s so much fun!) and resistance training!

NUTRITION: I use a simple nutritional program called 2B Mindset, but I also know the basics of my macros from doing a simple calculation from the Ultimate Portion Fix. This helps give me structure, accountability but freedom to not need to be so strict with my eating…I just can’t do that right now and keep my sanity. I can follow this approach and be successful while eating out or staying in and I love what it’s taught me about how to use the scale as a powerful learning tool.

SUPPLEMENTS: Many stressors in my life, I can’t change right now, so I HAVE TO prioritize making my body resilient to it. Stress causes weight gain in various ways, one being the accumulation of cortisol which is a huge contributor to belly fat and inflammation.

  1. Wellness Shake: I drink Shakeology 1-2 times a day as it’s full of adaptogens, phytonutrients, antioxidants and superfoods that support my body’s ability to be resilient to stress, supports digestion, pH scale and much more.
  2. Muscle Margarita: Every morning, I combine a hydrate electrolyte beverage (key to supporting adrenal function), an all natural preworkout with low caffeine, quercetin + beta alanine to promote circulation, and collagen for my first beverage of the day. This not only tastes delicious but it supports hydration, gives me energy + motivation to start my day out right with exercise! (This concoction also works great pre-laundry!)
  3. Power Greens: GREENS are essential for health. I love this power greens supplement that is chalk full of chlorella, kale, spinach, celery, cucumber and matcha. (Match has 137x the amount of antioxidants vs. regular green tea!) I put 2 scoops in a shot glass every morning and mix with the liquid from my muscle margarita!
  4. Screen Shot 2021-04-20 at 9.29.41 AM3 Day Refresh Cleanse: I just finished this powerful 3-day metabolism booster and in just 3 days I released 3lbs and a total of 7 inches! I quit caffeine during these 3 days and for the first time in a while I felt ENERGIZED when I woke up and throughout the day. This cleanse gives you a meal plan with veggies, fruits + healthy fats, comes with a daily fiber sweep and 3 protein shakes, one of those being a full-spectrum wellness shake in Shakeology.
  5. Beachbars: These aren’t a supplement as much as a healthy tool to have on hand for me and the kids. I just bought 3 boxes of 16 for only $80! That’s only $1.74 PER BAR! These are chalk full of protein, fiber, clean ingredients, are gluten-free, certified low-glycemic and come in vegan flavors as well. I conceal carry these everywhere…diaper bag, center console of my car, my purse, wallet, nightstand… ya know wherever I might get low blood sugar. Haha… My kids are obsessed and think they’re a food group of their own.

MINDSET: They key to your success is right between your ears. If you don’t value your worthiness of success, you won’t show up for yourself.  If you’re always expecting failure, you will always create it.

I just finished listening to the book “You win in the locker room first” and it was SO GOOD… all about team work, leadership and strength in connecting with and empowering your team. In May, I am leading our team through a powerful leadership workbook from John C Maxwell called- ‘The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership workbook”. If you want to learn how to be a better leader in your family, workplace and life you should JOIN US! We will have team calls going through 2 chapters at a time on Wednesday mornings at 9am PST.

SUPPORT: I need a fun support group that expects me to show up and misses me when I don’t, yet understands when life gets crazy. The Transformation Studio I run is JUST THAT! I also have 2 groups who workout on Zoom M-Sat at 4:45am PST or 5:30am PST who I can join and feel added community. These groups have corresponding text threads where we encourage each other to get up and start the day off strong and that’s so valuable to me!

THIS APPROACH is totally doable for me. In fact I NEED IT in my life in order to be all I am for all my family, businesses and responsibilities. If you want me to get you set up with this plan, please complete my free health assessment form HERE.  In the comments section indicate that you want the “stressed out fit mom plan”! Haha…

Don’t forget… we only get one chance at this life. Every decision we make impacts those around us. YOU are capable that exceedingly more than you give yourself credit for. And the fact that you’ve read this entire blog post proves that you’re ready for this. Deep down you know you’re meant for more than what you’re feeling right now. I believe in you sis! It would be an honor to walk through this journey with you!

Love,

Coach Jess

3 Day Refresh: My Experience

Image result for 3 day refresh

YESTERDAY marked my ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY as both a customer and coach with Beachbody! I am SO overwhelmingly thankful that I said YES to this journey one year ago because WOW how it’s impacted our lives already and we are just getting started! 🙂 Speaking of one year…it has taken me that long to finally try Beachbody’s 3 Day Refresh program! Let me share with you the reason why…

I started my Beachbody journey to lose my baby weight after having our son. It was amazing and incredibly helpful. My extreme low back pain was nearly completely eliminated after one program, I dropped 20 pounds after baby and became stronger and leaner than I was before I was pregnant! Fast-forward one year…

This year around Christmas we found out we were expecting baby #2!! Our hearts were SO incredibly happy when those two dark blue lines appeared. Almost immediately I was overtaken by pregnancy hormones and they were stronger with this pregnancy than with my son. My skin was breaking out, I had strong food cravings, I was hungry ALL the time, and SOOO TIRED! The first part of pregnancy is never really fun…you’re sick, tired, and bloated. I felt ALL of that. My pants started to get super snug and I just felt BLAH…but when you have a baby on the way, you don’t care because all of that BLAH is totally worth it in the end! Our 9 week check up came around and our hearts were broken as we found out our little baby had stopped growing around 6 weeks. It completely crushed both me and my husband. It knocked me on my butt and it took me a minute to even want to try to get back up. For our complete miscarriage story, feel free to read my blog post here- https://baby-grower.com/2017/01/14/the-silent-struggle-our-story-of-miscarriage/

Physiologically speaking…even though I KNEW there was no longer a growing, living baby inside of me, it took my body a while to catch on. It is almost an unexplainable torture to grieve the loss of your baby while simultaneously battling pregnancy hormones. My body was still 2 months pregnant…I was still bloated, still battled fatigue, food cravings, aversions, nausea…It was brutal.

Thankfully, I have an amazing support system and I serve a gracious God who gave me the strength and perspective I needed day by day, sometimes minute by minute to continue fighting forward. Even though this pregnancy ended at 2 months…my body showed this pregnancy. I felt it…in my back, my growing hips, my belly…I felt it. This was one of the driving forces that helped me decide it was time to try out the 3-Day Refresh! It’s also why I am committed to this round of 22 Minute Hard Corps. It’s amazing how powerful the connection is between strengthening your muscles and your heart at the same time.

I hate sharing before and after pictures…it’s not any easier for me than it is for anyone else. I see ALL of my flaws and I see how far I have to go to be where I want to be…but there is something to be said about transparency and authenticity. I promised my followers that I’d share my results, so here they are… not huge results, but it was something for just 3 days! 🙂 PLUS the mental shift was the powerful part of this cleanse where the long term results will come. P.S…ignore the tiny monster who was having a melt down during my before pictures…HA!

FullSizeRender

I lost 1.5 inches in 3 different places of my abdomen for a total of 4.5 inches! That’s not too bad for 3 days! What really stuck out to me more than a physical transformation though, was the mental shift that happened for me during these 3 days. Let me explain…

Here is the schedule of supplements, shakes, & food for the 3 day Refresh:

Capture

As you can see…this truly is more of a cleanse. There is minimal food involved and a substantial amount of fluids with added vegetable based protein & fiber supplements throughout the day. As with anything, the majority of the struggle in trying anything new is in the mind. My body & mind are used to a routine. We have been meal planning regularly now for a year, so I’m used to my food portions spaced out every 3-4 hours. The 3 Day Refresh was successful in shaking up that routine. I found I APPRECIATED the food I ate more. I noticed my taste buds were more sensitive to the tastes of the vegetables. I could taste the natural saltiness in my celery, I appreciated the taste of unsweetened green or herbal tea. When I had sautéed kale, sauerkraut, and avocado for dinner, I genuinely appreciated my portion because it was the only actual “meal” I ate for that day. This was a nice shift…consuming with intention instead of out of habit.

ENERGY-

This was my BIGGEST concern. I’m not going to sugar coat it, my life is a bit nutzo. I wake up at 04:00am to either get some work done with my challengers, return email, or complete a workout. These 3 days I chose to back off on my intense workouts so this refresh could do it’s job, so I used this time for some much needed research and follow up. At around 05:00 I attempt to juggle getting ready for work, packing lunches & breakfast for me and hubby (SO thankful for meal prepping!), holding my little monster who wakes up almost every morning at 05:00 and doesn’t want to be put down, getting him ready for the day, dishes, coffee/tea, and try to get out of the door on time for a 8-9 hour day in prison (Don’t worry…I work there full time as an RN 🙂 ). I pull in the driveway usually around 4pm and have 3.5 hours to get chores done, clean the house, run errands, host conference, calls return emails, get our workout in if it wasn’t done in the morning, post on social media, and spend time with my family before baby (and his parents!) needs to be put to sleep. So, I can’t afford to have a decrease in energy. Surprisingly…I felt great for the most part for the entire 3 days. This is a big deal considering I cut coffee out completely! The first day I was a bit groggy as expected and towards the end of the 3rd day I could feel my body losing a little stamina, but other than that I had great energy!

DIGESTION-

This little refresh is designed to help give your digestive system a break and eliminate bloating and inflammation. This was true for me. HOWEVER, I will say that the fiber sweep can make you feel a little bloated at times. The psyllium husk it contains is designed to literally sweep the colon. Not in a gnarly “explosive diarrhea” way, but the fiber pushes toxins out of the colon and in doing so can make you a little… “gassy”. I wasn’t really eating much food, but my tummy was always rumbling. This wasn’t my favorite side effect, but I knew that meant the fiber sweep was doing it’s job. One of the KEY POINTS to remember during these 3 days is how essential fluids are. If you aren’t drinking enough hydrating fluids, the fiber sweep could potentially cause constipation and bloating itself. You want to aim to drink ATLEAST half of your body weight in ounces of water/herbal teas.

I expected to feel hungry during these 3 days, but surprisingly I was quite satisfied the majority of the time. If I got hungry, I munched on some celery sticks. By the 2nd day I noticed my stomach was flatter and my pants were loose.

IN A NUTSHELL-

I think this is a great little 3 day cleanse for anyone looking to kick-start their fitness program, weight loss, or metabolism. Even 3 days after ending the cleanse, I have noticed lingering positive effects. My energy has still been great, digestion is strong, and no bloating has returned. I feel like this program is accurately described as a “kick start” program because that is exactly what it does! PLUS it teaches us to be mindful of what we’re eating instead of becoming a mindless eater. That being said, I am very happy to be back to my meal planning and exercising on the 22 Minute Hard Corps program. I will definitely do this again down the road!

Ultimate Reset Diaries: His & Hers Journey through 21 Days of Cleansing- Weeks 2 & 3

bur_logo_lowres_v2

To read more about this fabulous couple and their week 1 recap click here.

Our reset in a crunch plan for week two was:

1

For Breakfast we picked:

  • Fresh fruit plate. Our choices for fruits: strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, cantaloupe, honeydew melon nectarines and peaches

For lunch and dinner we could alternate recipes this week: meaning we can make extra for dinner one night and eat if for lunch-SCORE!!

  • Hearty vegetable miso soup with microgreen green salad, toasted pumpkin seeds.
  • Quinoa-Lentil pilaf with half cup steamed broccoli (we swapped the broccoli out for mixed vegies)
  • Pinto beans and rice with steamed zucchini and green beans

Snack: ½ a green apple with almond butter

Day 8 (Tuesday) 2

I was super excited to try the Detox powder after having that power greens powder (which my husband likened to horse poop) all week last week. Too bad we are not rid of the power greens just yet!

Ya…my excitement was turned into gagging the first time I tried it. OMG I’d rather have the power greens three times a day than this stuff!! I have even tried it in warm water and it is equally gross. But Hubs likes it so I guess it’s just a personal preference.

I’d like to point out this caddy that comes with the ultimate reset kit. It is so handy to carry all the packets of powders and the optimize pills that we have to take throughout the day. I even take the mineralize with me so I can add it to the bottle of water everytime I get a new bottle- I think I go through about 5 bottles or 2 1 liter bottles each day!

3

Since breakfast was a plate full of fruit, I was actually hungry before lunch time came around. I made a note to drink even more water tomorrow so I could feel filled up.

Lunch was microgreen salad with pumpkin seeds and ¼ of an avocado and pinto beans and rice. Let me tell you something, this Indian girl was dancing with joy because I get to have cumin and coriander with the beans!! I miss Indian food and the spices and flavor!

And even better- dinner was Quinoa-Lentil Pilaf and it had turmeric in it!! Now we are talking. This was so good that our ten year old kidlet asked to take it to lunch the next day!

Hubby –  I was doing pretty good days 8 through 10. I was determined to continue with this process to see if anything improved for me. The food was getting a little old around day 10 & 11, but I noticed that my joint pain in my hands, shoulders, knees and especially feet was considerably less. On day 12 I stopped taking pain meds. I also notice my over all energy level was up. Typically around early evening I could easily fall asleep in a chair if I sat still for more than 5 minutes. I have had blood test and sleep studies to try and find the cause for my lack of energy. I really think that I am gluten sensitive. Meaning I have some of the standard side effects of having a mild reaction to gluten. By day fourteen, I was sure that gluten has affected me for years. I can remember about 12 years ago going to arthritis specialists because I could barely make a fist or hold tightly on to my fishing rod (that is a huge problem for me). Now with two weeks of being on the Ultimate Reset and going gluten free, I know that I will stay away from it from now on.

4

Day 9 and Day 10

6These two days are a blur since I was in a training both days an hour away from home. I did notice that I got hungry and thirsty more often. I was not drinking enough water and people at the5 training would give me strange looks as I swirled my detox powder and power greens in Styrofoam cups to mix and down it as fast as I possibly could! So my meals were on the go and prepped the night before. My energy was crazy! I could work all day, come home and do housework and get assignments done (remember I’m in Grad School?!), wake up and do it all over again!

AND this is the last week of duck hunting so hubby took the whole week off!! I’m so excited, not because he’s off but it’s the last week for me as a water fowlers widow 🙂 . Haha…

This was Breakfast on the go for him- again proving you can do this no matter where you are or what you are doing!

I also wanted to show y’all a picture of my miso soup! Seriously I’m in love with this thing. Hubby is not a big fan but this was dinner on Day 9!

7

Day 11- Friday

On usual weeks, by Friday I am done. My brain is foggy, I don’t feel like going to work and just want to call in sick! Not this Friday. I woke up with an abundance of energy, worked like crazy all day, came home, took the kidlet shopping and dropped her off to a sleepover and then decided to make something other than what we had in our plans for this week. Hubby had made a couple of remarks as this week went by that he was tired of eating the same things so I opened the ultimate reset book and tried to see if I can mix and match or make something else for him! There’s a recipe for Kabocha Sqaush with garlic Tahini filling and steamed broccoli or your favorite vegetable. I surveyed the kitchen and saw a spaghetti squash laying on the counter- close enough!

Plus, we both are not big fans of broccoli! There was no Tahini sauce at home, but I had a jar full of white sesame seeds!  So… I was resourceful! I roasted them and then went all frontier woman and grinded them on the stone grinder (all Indian homes have one of those for grinding spices and I’d rather use that than the electric one because it’s easier to clean 🙂 ). I’m telling you the energy high is great! I feel like I used to when I was in my 20’s!

89

I filled the spaghetti squash with the tahini sauce, garlic and miso paste like the recipe asks and placed tomatoes in the middle and baked for 30 minutes! The end result was so delish- definitely a recipe we are keeping. As hubby was scarfing this down he comments, “This would be a great side dish with chicken.” LOL we really do miss chicken since it is one of the few meats we eat.

Day 12 and 13 (Weekend)

Before we started the Ultimate Reset, I used to wake up about 6-7 times a night to go pee. Almost two weeks into this I have noticed a significant change, I only wake up once a night or some nights not at all!! This makes a big difference to me since I have insomnia and waking 6-7 times a night was really giving me very little sleep. In the past, I had all sorts of tests done but no one could ever find anything physically wrong with me. What I think I figured out is that I didn’t drink enough water throughout the day, feeling dehydrated by 4 -5 pm and was chugging water like crazy in the afternoon and therefore peeing all night. Simple thing right- but ultimate reset made me realize how to change this habit and routine.

Weekends are usually hard since I always have visitors over and I’m always cooking massive amounts of Indian food. This weekend my Dad was going to be here so it was extra hard. I made dhal (Indian lentil soup- key ingredients, turmeric, cumin, spinach, carrots and of course lentils!) and rice (brown for us) and some salmon (cooked Indian way), but hubby and I stuck to dhal and brown rice- so good.

Day 14

Still lots of energy and I feel like we are in a routine now. Food wise we didn’t really do anything new. All prepped to start Week 3 tomorrow!!

WEEK 3

Our reset in a crunch plan for week 3 was:

Breakfast:

  • Fresh fruit plate

Lunch and Dinner we alternated between:

  • Bakes sweet potato with garlic veggies
  • Curried cauliflower (Yay- this is a Indian dish which I totally know how to cook!!)

Snack : ½ a green apple with almond butter (yeah we are creatures of habit)

I’m so glad I don’t have to drink that Detox powder. This week we had to add another set of capsules called Optimize!! No worries, we got this.

Day 15-21

Murphy strikes again. This week I had to be out of the office for three days due to a big contact investigation ( I work in infectious diseases). Being out in the field, I missed meals and water and felt tired and dehydrated. I still took all the supplements like I needed to but with so little intake of calories I wasn’t keeping up.

My breaking point came at Day 19 when I had to travel two hours away from home for a training that I had completely forgotten about! I wouldn’t even have made it if not for my outlook calendar. Since I was expecting to come home for lunch, and had to leave last minute, day 19 was the first day I broke away from the ultimate reset and ate regular food- which consisted of salad and a sandwich and potato salad (the yogurt in the pic is not mine).

Capture

I felt like such a failure and texted my hubby about this.

Capture1

He made me realize that through this process, we DID learn new things about our bodies! My husband learned that his body did not tolerate gluten. After having years of pain in his joints, countless sleep studies, and x-rays confirming Arthritis, he is now 90 % pain free (he does need to have surgery on his knees and shoulders due to old football injuries)! I learned that I need to drink water throughout the day in order to not wake up 6-7 times to run to the bathroom at night (Previously, I was drinking the bulk of my water in the evenings and dehydrating myself all day)! Also something I had been to multiple doctor’s about and had tests done on…who would have thought it could be so simple?! We both also learned new recipes that we are keeping and to incorporate more vegetables into our diet.

HUBBY – (Days 15-21) I am still feeling a million times better with the joint pain. I’ve taken maybe a couple extra strength Tylenol over the 3 weeks of the Ultimate Reset. Before this program I was using daily low level pain meds throughout the day, pain cream, and Extra-Strength Tylenol. I am getting tired of the food though. By the third week my appetite was growing. Eating almost a vegan diet with limiting portions was starting to be too much. I am thrilled though that I met my goal of discovering the reason behind my years of consistent pain! I started easing back towards normal food prepared and cooked like the foods in the reset. I had some chicken around day 18 and some chicken salad on day 19. I didn’t work out the numbers but I would be willing to bet the max calories for a day would barely get to 1000. That is too low for me. I started at a hair less than 232lbs and ended up 215.2 pounds on day 18. That is almost 17 lbs in 18 days. It was not my goal to lose weight. I really feel good between 222 and 225 and I felt considerably weaker with no stamina. I increased my calories and slowly increased my chicken, nuts and peanut butter.

I would strongly encourage friends and family to try the 21-day Ultimate Reset. I would advise to have specific goals in mind and track your progress. Don’t feel like you failed because you slightly veered off course, understand that to get the best results you should stay on track though. Give yourself a fair chance to be successful and work towards your goal.

A month after reset: We are still keeping at eating healthy, Chris has separate bread, bagels, and tortillas in the refrigerator that are all gluten-free. We are still keeping our energy levels up! Good thing because we have added another responsibility to our list of being full-time employees, parents, and part-time students…WITH 7 PUPPIES!!!

 Capture2

WOW! How amazing is that, right?! It  blows me away how much of a MASSIVE difference this couple saw in their 21 day journey! Could you imagine living for YEARS with chronic pain and inflammation…going to multiple arthritis specialists thinking you were one of the “unlucky” ones to get Arthritis at such a young age…and then to take a leap of faith and do this crazy program your wife wants you to do with her for 3 weeks, and 2 weeks in to be 90% FREE OF PAIN and off your pain pill for the first time in YEARS?! I mean THAT is life changing people!!!!

What about Suzie and her insane energy levels!! I know this woman personally and let me tell you…she is the BUSIEST person I know…working full time in an extremely hectic environment, full time mommy to a very involved little girl, part time college professor, AND going to school to get her Masters PLUS now PUPPIES!!! That doesn’t include the daily things that come up with bills, shopping, meal planning, cooking, cleaning, homework, and being a WIFE! I don’t know how she does it… It was so rad to see how her energy soared through this program!

If you were inspired by this couple’s story, if you’re looking for a way to press the “RESET” button, I would love to speak with you. I would absolutely LOVE to be reading your transformation story after your journey through a program like this. Think of how different your life could be if you decided to finally put YOU first. To take care of yourself and be the BEST version of yourself…to have amazing energy, feel strong and athletic, to feel confident, to be free of pain…who in your life would benefit from you being stronger, healthier, happier? Your spouse, your kids, your career, your family, your clients, your friends, THE WORLD! You were created with a purpose my friend. You can’t fulfill that purpose if you are burdened with chronic fatigue and poor health. I’d love to work with you and help give you the resources you need to transform into the best version of yourself. Because…well, why the heck not?!

Ultimate Reset Diaries: His and Hers journey through 21 Days of Cleansing- Week 1

Image result for Ultimate reset

I have some AMAZING friends! Two in particular who are near and dear to my heart who have sacrificed their time, busy lives, and comfort foods to devote themselves to the Ultimate Reset 21 Day program AND to document their journey for all of us to see! How awesome is that?! I have to also mention that BOTH of these bad ass friends of mine work full time with a kiddo at home AND are in school! I seriously don’t know how they do it….but I know if THEY can do it, ANY OF US CAN!! Without further adue…I give you a snapshot into their experience in week one…

Pre-Ultimate Reset Day:
Today was what I can Murphy’s Law!! My daughter was performing at a Martin Luther King Junior Celebration which was supposed to end at 12:45; well it ended at around 2:30. We were all starving and since it’s the last day before we start eating “lettuce and tree bark” (hubby’s words not mine) and because I was craving Italian food we went out to eat!! We then came home and meal prepped for at least two days of meals. And of course I was starting to feel the beginning symptoms of a head cold!! Oh and here’s some words of advice before you embark on the ultimate reset:
1- Do NOT read the book in one sitting. It has a lot of information, instead try to take a couple of days and read it; I took a week to read it.
2- Do NOT try to prepare 21 days of different meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) unless you have three weeks off, and have nothing to do. Instead take a look at the back of the book where it gives you an ultimate reset in a crunch.
3- I color coded the book with tabs with which meal plan we were following to match up with same color tab as the recipe, otherwise you will go back and forth and drive yourself crazy- (see example below)

Screen Shot 2017-01-24 at 5.53.10 PM

Our reset in a crunch plan for week one was:
Breakfast Options:

  • Oatmeal with blueberries and yogurt sweetened with maple syrup
  • Farina with walnuts, apple and maple syrup

Lunch Options:

  • Lentil-Lime Salad with Microgreen salad and toasted pumpkin seeds
  • Quinoa Salad with ½ cup hummus and vegetable plate (tomatoes, baby carrots, green beans and red bell peppers)

Dinner Options:

  • Baked Salmon, with steamed asparagus and baby potatoes seasoned with lemon and olive oil
  • Southwestern Veggie Taco
  • Miso Soup, Stir fry veggies and ½ cup of brown rice (I omitted the Nori Gomasio- there is no way Chris is going to eat that!)

Snack: ½ a green apple with almond butter

Day 1
I woke up with a head cold! Remembered to weigh myself- I weighed 135.2 this morning. My normal weight is around 130 usually until last year when I was up to 145; I did 22 Minute Hard Corps– which is an 8 week awesome Beachbody program. I lost over 20 pounds doing that! Anyways last night was the first night I made overnight oats so I was super excited to try it this morning! It was a little runny but delicious! Hubby of course rejected it right away and said he will make his “own” oatmeal at work. My redneck just does not understand why someone would put yogurt in his oatmeal☺

Screen Shot 2017-01-25 at 4.36.17 AM

Lunch was awesome and filling to me. I got a text from hubby around 2pm regarding the “power greens”. I had to excuse myself from a meeting because I was laughing so hard. See for yourself. And those “power greens are nasty!

Screen Shot 2017-01-25 at 4.36.33 AM

Overall Day 1 wasn’t bad. Things I noticed- I went to the bathroom a lot more then I usually do (5 bottles of water will do that to you). I was tired but I think some of it was due to me being sick. Salmon asparagus and baby potato dinner was awesome and very filling.

(Hubby) I was really hating the power greens. I later found that mixing it in warm water instead of cold and cutting the volume to about 10 ounces really helps. Less of it to drink and not gritty.
Day 2
The quinoa salad was awesome and hummus tasted so good at lunch because I was starving.  So proud of hubby as he went duck hunting in the morning but took his oatmeal and all the reset supplements withScreen Shot 2017-01-25 at 4.36.42 AM him proving that if you have the will you will find a way!!

I came home after lunch today as the head cold is getting worse and crashed for two hours.  Dinner was southwestern veggie taco, we skipped the rice in the tacos and had two tacos instead of one and I stayed up till 1pm to finish all my school assignments for the week (I’m in grad school as well☺). I am really feeling good so far besides the crud that I have.
(Hubby) I was doing well with day two. I was surprised that I had no caffeine headache. The biggest reason I agreed to this restart was because I knew that I was consuming way too much caffeine and sugar. I shouldn’t be able to take in the sugar due to having a gastric bypass about 3.5 years ago. Unfortunately, I am one of the lucky/unlucky bypass patients that can tolerate sugar. Another issue that I have been dealing with for some time is inflammation in my feet and in my hands. I had heard that a possible cause for inflammation was a gluten allergy. A work buddy had told me that he cut gluten and feels a lot better with his severe arthritis problems.
Day 3
Day 3 is a blur. I don’t remember much of today except hubby missed his dinner! I worked late today and he had class this evening (we are both in school) and couldn’t finish making dinner so I took over after I got home and made green beans (swapped them for asparagus in our baked salmon dinner) and texted him to drop it off to his class but he said NO!
By the time, he got home (around 10pm) he was not hungry☹
(Hubby) Well the headache found me on day three. The caffeine headache was so bad I thought I was coming down with the flu. Absolutely felt like crap and skipped dinner and went to bed.

Day 4
I woke up early and made Farina with walnuts and strawberries (we eat green apples and almond butter for snack) so I swapped the green apples in this recipe for the strawberries we had left over from last week which needed to be eaten. I know I am supposed to pick low glycemic index fruits but I was improvising plus hubby skipped dinner so I figured it will be okay. Breakfast was delicious. I savored every last bit of it.
Screen Shot 2017-01-25 at 4.36.52 AMI was in a training off site from work and the pizza they had for lunch and cookies for after lunch smelled so delicious! I almost caved in with the cookies but a friend reminded me to stay strong and I stuck to it- Yay so proud of myself because I physically reached out for the cookie and stopped. I had taken my lunch with me –quinoa salad and assortment of veggies with hummus and I gobbled that up like a turkey.
Dinner was left over salmon from yesterday that hubby did not eat and I had made enough last night for two days’ worth. Thank God we are Salmon lovers!

Since the next two weeks are supposed to be vegetarian, this is the last day we will be having any type of meat/fish.
OH and get this!! Hubby weighed himself this morning and had lost 8 pounds!! And I have lost ONLY 0.9!! WTH
(Hubby) The headache was less than the day before but still there. Still a less than normal appetite. Ate most of the food during the day.
Day 5
Yay, it is Saturday! But I woke up feeling blue and emotional. I skipped breakfast…I was not remotely hungry but I drank all the water and supplements I was supposed to. Hubby was out hunting again so I had the house to myself and did some major cleaning. By lunch time I still was not hungry but had my lentil-lime salad with microgreens and toasted pumpkin seeds.
Hubby had the southwestern taco (dinner) for lunch since we are trying to get rid of leftovers and also plan menus for next week.
I found miso paste at Raley’s so I made miso soup and stir fry veggies for dinner since it is the weekend and I have more time on my hands. I also took the time today to plan out next week’s meals and make a grocery list.
Day 6
Arggh, I did not sleep all night long! This cold and cough kept me up pretty much all night but I still had energy all day. We had Farina for breakfast, I combined the Qunioa and veggie plate for lunch into a stir fry and for dinner we finished of the Southwestern Veggie Tacos. All prepped and set for next week which for us starts on Tuesday. Sorry no pictures today, I may not be feeling good from the lack of sleep, my brain is not functioning at top capacity today. Even though I did not sleep last night I went to bed at 1am on Day 6- I was wide awake and lots of energy- and of course got tons of assignments for school done.☺

(Hubby) Well the headache is gone and the appetite returned. We went shopping and the smells of grocery store roasted chicken and the samples at Costco were harder to walk away from than I suspected.

Day 7
5 hours of good sleep and ready to conquer the day- or so I thought!! Murphy strikes again and I did not get around to eating my Farina until 11am. I had all the energy and felt like my body was in overdrive today. I had a bunch of staff call in sick today (Monday) and 1 new person start today and it was a clinic day so work was crazy!!  I didn’t have lunch (in fact I didn’t notice the time until 5pm) and figured I’d just wait for dinner. Hubby made me miso soup and stir fired veggies- miso soup (or some form of it) is a definite keeper for us even after these 21 days are over.
Week two starts morrow and some of my takes from week 1:

  • Water is key, follow the water intake and supplements.
  • Have fun with the food, pick a couple and figure out how to incorporate it to suit you. Like today we put brown rice into our miso soup instead of eating it with the stir fired veggies- we both liked it better that way.
  • Hubby has lost approximately 10 pounds this week and I have lost 3 (don’t despair, the weight loss difference could be due to me being sick and stressed to the max with work and school) so my body is holding on to every last bit it can!
  • Those power greens taste horrible no matter what you do but they do go down a little easier in lukewarm water☺
  • (Hubby) One thing I realized today was that identifying bad habits or bad routines can help you after the reset is over. The last couple days I found myself walking towards the kitchen at home or the breakroom at work out of habit and not out of hunger. I look back now it seems like it would be a mindless act to forage in the pantry and come out with a hand full of trail mix or a granola bar. That may not seem so bad but you must make sure that if you do those things, don’t have the trail mix with chocolate and bars with corn syrup. So, I will stop buying those not so healthy snacks and find some better ones, but I will try first to just have a glass of water first. Hopefully that helps.

Wow!! What a week! I don’t know about you, but I am hooked! I can’t wait to hear what the next week has in store for these two! Stay tuned for more from this dynamic duo on Week’s 2 & 3!

What the heck are Parabens???

Oh Hey!

So, I constantly am asked questions on a wide variety of topics. Recently I was asked to read the ingredient list on a product that was marketed as being “all-natural”, hypoallergenic, and relatively “clean” as far as ingredients go. Immediately I called BS on the product when I read “butylparaben, methylparaben, & propylparaben”. First, it’s important you understand that our skin is our largest organ. WHAT YOU PUT ON YOUR SKIN IS IMMEDIATELY ABSORBED INTO YOUR BODY. Makes you think a little different about all of those skin products, huh?

What exactly are these weird sounding ingredients?

Parabens are a class of chemicals used as preservatives in a wide variety of skin products, supplements, and cosmetics. They can be found in shampoos, lotions, shaving cream, topical medications, spray tanning solution, makeup, and toothpaste. They can also be used as food additives.

What’s wrong with them?

Here’s where me and parabens don’t get along… These suckers mimic estrogen in the body, and in the worst way. These chemicals can be referred to as Xenoestrogens or “synthetic estrogens”. They are the bad types of estrogen’s that increase one’s risk for breast, prostate, or ovarian cancer. Ya..no bueno. There are millions of men walking around with way to much estrogen simply from the lotions, shaving cream, and soaps they are using. Those seducing manly soaps, sprays, lotions, & shaving creams that are supposed to make you more macho and drive the ladies crazy??? Sorry to break it to ya boys, but the majority of those are actually increasing your girly hormones. Awesome, right?

And Ladies…these are not the estrogen’s you want floating around your body. If you’re hoping to avoid being one of the 1 in 3 women diagnosed with breast cancer, it is IMPERATIVE that you eliminate these products from your daily routine. Want to hear something, crazy? A study published in the Journal of Toxicology in March 2012, showed paraben esters were present in 99% of women tested with breast cancer. Wowzas! That’s a MASSIVE number! Read more about the study & Dr. Mercola’s take on it by clicking here.

And for those of you wanting to shed the belly weight and extra fat on your body, getting rid of xenoestrogens is a must!

Xenoestrogens are fat soluble, and they must find a home. Where do they find it? They lodge in fatty tissues like the abdomen.

  • Xeno means foreign.
  • Xenoestrogens mimic natural estrogen.
  • Xenoestrogens deposit in fatty tissues like the abdomen.

Interesting, right?

Now, think about our kids. Hundreds of thousands of kiddos are being slathered in parabens from day 1 of life. How do you think that’s going to impact them as they grow and mature? Poor kids already have a toxic food supply and other issues to deal with!

How does one avoid these ingredients, they are everyyywheeeeeeere!

True. True. They are everywhere, but lucky for us, there are some kick ass companies out there who are committed to doing their part to make this a safer, cleaner, healthier planet! When you’re weeding through your current collection of soaps, gels, lotions, creams, shaving creams, makeup, etc.. and you need to replace those items (because you will), my recommendation is to go into a Whole Foods, Sprouts, local health food store, OR to go shopping online. I LOVE www.iherb.com. (First time users of iherb, who use this specific link will get $5-$10 off your first order!) You can get pretty much anything from this website and with free shipping, which is amazing! Shop around their cosmetics section and read the ingredients. Look for the “NO PARABENS” label. If a company is proud of their clean product, they’re going to let you know by having a list of “No’s”.

Ok, so I cleaned the parabens out of my house, how do I get them out of my body after being exposed?

Great question! I’m so glad you asked! Here are 4 tips to get you on your way!

1. JUICE- For those of you who are juicers, the combo of celery & beets are awesome to flush out the “bad estrogens” in the body. Any green juices are going to help you naturally detox toxins.

2. EXERCISE- Exercising, especially performing exercises that stimulate your lymphatic system such as rebounding, running, or jumping, are very effective for helping the body get rid of those nasty parabens. Aim for at least 20 minutes per day. You can do that, I know you can!

3. LOVE YOUR LIVER- Our liver is incredible. Unfortunately, though, it gets clogged up rather quickly with the world we live in. Our liver is a major detox organ, so giving it some TLC will really help your body eliminate unwanted toxins. Here are some easy ways to love on your liver:

4. CRAM THE CRUCIFEROUS VEGGIES- Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, kale, cabbage, collard greens, & brussels sprouts contain specific components that help the body eliminate xenoestrogens such as parabens. Two of these compounds are called Indole-3-Carbinol (I-3-C) & Diindolylmethane (DIM). There are numerous studies on this powerful duo when it comes to anti-cancer properties and flushing xenoestrogens out of the body. Ask google, you’ll see! 😉

 ———————————————

So, how are you feeling about this whole thing? Overwhelmed? Relieved? Pumped up? Pumped down? I know it can be a bit much hearing about all the crazy things that seem to be out to get you in our world today, but the awesome part is that there is always something we can do to move in the right direction! Get excited instead of overwhelmed! We’re getting healthier together, becoming more aware, setting up future generations for success! It’s going to take effort and determination, but everything worth anything does, right?! I promise you it’s worth it to take these simple steps now instead of waiting until you’re in a sense of panic because of an abnormal test result. Ain’t nobody got time for that whole sickness stuff, right? Right!

You’re AWESOME!

Costco Hepatitis A Berries- What To Do

I’m sure by now many of you have heard about the outbreak of Hepatitis A linked to Costco’s Townsend Farms Organic Antioxidant Blend Frozen Berries. I find it both sad and convenient for two different reasons. Sad of course because so many people who are trying to eat healthier and spend extra to specifically purchase the organic mixed berries bag instead of the regular ones, are now disheartened. And convenient because this incidence not only makes organic foods look unsafe, but it was the perfect reason to push the Hepatitis A Vaccine at everyone and their mother, and conveniently for free of course!

I know we all have different opinions on vaccines, and I save my thoughts for those who really want to hear them. Today, I want to share with you my recommendations for what to do if you have eaten some of these berries and potentially been exposed to the Hep A virus.

1. DON’T FREAK OUT

  • Let’s face the reality that what’s done is done. Stressing out about what happened is not going to help anything, but actually decrease your immune system instead, so be calm and by integrating the recommendations below know that you are empowering your body to overcome just about any virus, not just Hep A! How cool is that!

2. Cut out the immune system offenders

  • You have a machine inside of you that is the MOST powerful tool against viruses, cancers, diseases, pain, etc…it’s your IMMUNE SYSTEM. When we fall prey to one of these “bad guys” it’s usually because our immune system isn’t working properly and has become too burdened by toxins. Here are some of the top Immune System Offenders…
    • SUGAR- Read labels!
    • GLUTEN- Damages the gut (where 80% of the immune system is), turns into sugar right after you eat it, and encourages inflammation.
    • “DIRTY” DAIRY- regular pasteurized dairy is FULL of nasty things you don’t even want to know about, so just trust me on this one! It increases mucous formation in the gut and is inflammatory in the body.
    • GMO Foods- (Genetically Modified Organisms)  My brotha/sista, if you don’t know about this, you need to start reading! These dangerous franken-foods have the ability to splice your DNA, give you cancers, grow tumors, and make you sterile for life! NOTHING to mess around with!
    • TOXIC CHEMICALS ON YOUR SKIN!- These go directly into the blood stream, so PLEASE be careful what you put on your skin and switch over to non-toxic alternatives

3. SUNRIDER FOODS

  •  If you haven’t read the testimony I recently posted about a man who was able to completely get rid of his Hepatitis-C & liver failure, PLEASE READ IT HERE!
  • As you have heard me say before, the Sunrider Foods are THE MOST amazing tools I have EVER food to heal our bodies. Since Hepatitis can affect the liver, consuming 1-pitcher of Calli tea daily will be very helpful to cleanse this virus from the body. Quinary will support the 5-major systems: digestive, endocrine (hormonal), respiratory, circulatory, & immune- simultaneously ensuring you are functioning in tip-top shape. NuPlus will give your body the energy it needs to make the necessary improvements. And 1 more special tool you may want to add is called Alpha-20-C. This is the “immune system” component of Quinary and is formulated specifically to increase your defenses against outside invaders. I have heard UNREAL stories about terminal cancer patients, and very ill people taking high levels of this and becoming completely healed. This is NO JOKE yo!

4. Increase your probiotic foods & beverages

  • 80% of the immune system is in the gut, remember? Healing your gut is IMPERATIVE to have a killer immune system and optimal health. Probiotic foods & drinks such as raw cultured sauerkraut (with culture like Body Ecology) and Inner Eco or Body Ecology’s Cocobiotics are phenomenal to heal the body and raise your body’s defenses.

5. Get in the sun

  • Don’t be afraid of the sun, the sun is your friend and like a machine gun against invaders in the body. Try to get in the sun for atleast 20 minutes per day with a good amount of your body exposed and NO sunscreen. After those 20 minutes, you can put on a 30 SPF  NON-TOXIC sunscreen to prevent burning, because we don’t want that either. 🙂

6. Get plenty of rest & hydrate

  • And as usual, make sure you’re sleeping well and staying hydrated with pure mineral rich water. You should be drinking half of your body weight in ounces of water, so…if you weigh 150lbs, you should be drinking 75oz of water per day. That is NO 8-8oz cups is it? 🙂 Dehydration is a massive stressor on the body, so pay attention to that. 🙂 And try to get at least 7 hours of good sleep each night if you can.

7. Homeopathic Hepatitis A Nosode

  • This is something you may have never heard of before, but in homeopathic medicine (the most effective, non-toxic medicine on the planet!), you can get what is called a nosode of a particular virus or illness. The Nosode works as all homeopathic remedies do to help your body get rid of the condition. If you are diagnosed with Hep A or are very concerned you may get it, you can look into this option as well. http://www.elixirs.com/products.cfm?productcode=S97F

Spring Cleaning: Body Edition

People like “stuff”. We tend to hold onto more of it year after year. We save and stock up on many useless items that we don’t even know what to do with. Maybe we keep things because they hold precious memories of days gone by, or they remind us of our parents, grandparents, past loves or childhood. To part with these precious possessions may seem painful or even out of the question to some. There is a saying that goes, “You have to get rid of the old to make way for the new.” If you are feeling stuck or stagnant in your life, try some spring-cleaning. Throw out some of that old “stuff”, say goodbye to your nuances of the past and welcome the new energy of your happy, healthy future. Try these four ideas:

     ______________________________

1. For good mental and physical health, we actually have two “houses” that need to be spring-cleaned: our physical homes and our physical bodies. Just as we accumulate “stuff” in the form of outgrown clothes, magazines, rusty bicycles, tools and random keepsakes, so do our bodies accumulate old food residues and toxins that need to be cleaned out.

____________

2. To spring clean your body, give it a break from rich and complicated foods by either cleansing or fasting for a short period of time. Cleansing means paring down your food to just simple fruits and vegetables, lots of water and perhaps gluten-free whole grains. Fasting means limiting most foods and drinking lots of water, fresh vegetable and fruit juices, teas and soups. Without much energy going toward digestion, more energy is available to the rest of your body and mind. Cleansing and fasting can sharpen your concentration, help you gain insight and promote spiritual awareness. It can also bring improved immune function and better digestion.

____________

3. While you’re cleaning out your body and home, don’t forget to spring-clean your heart. Throw away negative thoughts and habits you’ve been harboring that no longer serve you. A clean, open heart will allow you to receive all the good that awaits you each and every day. If your heart and mind are cluttered, there is no room for life’s gifts and surprises to enter.

____________

4. Sunrider foods are the perfect solution to nourishing, balancing, and CLEANSING the body safely and effectively. Calli tea & Fortune Delight pulls stored toxins out of our tissues and acts as a scrubber at the cellular level to get the junk out and make room for new healthy cells to be produced. Food Focus: Greens

Leafy greens are some of the easiest and most beneficial vegetables to incorporate into your daily routine. Densely packed with energy and nutrients, they grow upward to the sky, absorbing the sun’s light while producing oxygen. Members of this royal green family include kale, collard greens, Swiss chard, mustard greens, arugula, dandelion greens, broccoli rabe, watercress, beet greens, bok choy, napa cabbage, green cabbage, spinach and broccoli.

How do greens benefit our bodies? They are very high in calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, phosphorous and zinc, and are a powerhouse for vitamins A, C, E and K. They are crammed full of fiber, folic acid, chlorophyll and many other micronutrients and phytochemicals. Their color is associated with spring, which is a time to renew and refresh vital energy. In traditional Chinese medicine, the color green is related to the liver, emotional stability, and creativity. Greens aid in purifying the blood, strengthening the immune system, improving liver, gall bladder, and kidney function, fighting depression, clearing congestion, improving circulation and keeping your skin clear and blemish free.
Leafy greens are the vegetables most missing from the American diet, and many of us never learned how to prepare them. Start with the very simple recipe below. Then each time you go to the market, pick up a new green to try. Soon you’ll find your favorite greens and wonder how you ever lived without them.
