SUNDAY SOUL FOOD- Sunday Morning Breakfast

Hey Everyone!

I hope you’re having a wonderful and relaxing Sunday! Today, as I was making my husband and I a special pancake breakfast (Recipe coming on Tasty Tuesday!), I thought about my Sunday special meals that I had with my family growing up and how much I loved those times together. It wasn’t always breakfast. Many times growing up, we had potluck after church, where everyone brought a special dish, we put all the tables together into one the size of a school bus and had fellowship while we ate together. Some of the best Sunday’s were when, my amazing momma made the most delicious breakfast for us before church. I remember waking up to the sweat aroma of those amazing breakfasts. It was like awaking to the smell of love. 🙂

One thing I’ve noticed as time has passed is that these traditions and special times seem to have diminished over the years. Families are jam-packed with their individual activities and going their separate ways. Technology has taken over what used to be silent times. Everyone may be in the same room, but each on their phones doing separate things. We’re rushed, rushed, rushed to get here or do that, and before we know it another year has passed. What happened?

I’ve decided I want to bring it back and put some intention into making Sunday’s special. I would like to invite you to join me and make something special out of Sunday…something that will feed your soul until it overflows into a constant smile on your face. We all have different things we enjoy, different circumstances, different family situations, but surely there is something each and every one of us could do to embrace life each Sunday.

Tonight, we had our American teammates over (If you’re new to my site, I live in Spain and my husband plays basketball here) and we had such an awesome time with a roasted chicken dinner, some homemade pumpkin pie, telling stories of past experiences, and enjoying one of our friend’s amazing guitar skills. It was such a great time of “soul food” if you know what I mean. Just laughing, singing, and enjoying life over some good food. With today’s topic in mind it really made me extra thankful for today and the opportunities we had to just enjoy life.

What traditions do you have on Sundays? Don’t have a tradition? Why not start one? Maybe you could start making a special breakfast or meet a friend for tea, volunteer at a soup kitchen for homeless, or meet with your family and just enjoy life together. No matter what your situation, I’m sure you could find something that would feed your soul and fill your heart with joy. 🙂

Have an amazing day as you prepare to face the week ahead. I pray that each of you feel God’s sweet love today more than ever and expect HIS best in all you see, do, and experience this week.

xoxo,
